FALGUI LEADS KIAMBA’S TIMPUYOG FESTIVAL

Residents from 19 barangays of the municipality of Kiamba in the province of Sarangani came together to celebrate the Barangay and Tri-People Day.

The Barangay Day included a Cultural Dance Competition where barangays were divided into clusters. Cluster 7 or Barangay Poblacion won and took home P25,000. A singing competition was also held that same day.

Highlighting the event was the recognition of barangay officers who have dedicated more than 30 years of public service in their barangay.

Mayor George Falgui addressed his constituents and encouraged them to live up to the true meaning of Timpuyog – unity or gathering and working together towards the common good.

Joining Falgui was Vice Governor Elmer de Peralta who also gave his inspirational message to the Kiambans.

During the opening program, various schools, people’s organizations and councils, clustered barangays, and some local government sectors participated in the 2nd Festival Heart Float Parade.

The town’s annual celebration has a unique theme, with an array of suspended colorful umbrellas along the town’s plaza.
