GORDON WELCOMES AFGHANISTAN RED CRESCENT SOCIETY

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) recently received the Afghanistan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) delegation, led by Abdul Latif Sabet, ARCS Deputy Secretary General in Operational Affairs.

With him were Abdul Malik Daftani, Secretary to the ARCS Secretary General and SAF Focal Point and Trainer; Ahmad Zia Mumtaz, Document Affairs Specialist; and Zabihullah Amini, ICRC Movement Cooperation Specialist and Deputy Coordinator.

During the peer-to-peer visit, PRC Chairman Dick Gordon and Secretary General Gwen Pang had the opportunity to share the organization’s best practices, including efforts to ensure access to blood services, enhance disaster response capabilities, and strengthen life-saving humanitarian initiatives.

These knowledge exchanges highlighted the significance of global collaboration, allowing both Red Cross societies to learn from one another and further improve collective impact.

The visit is part of the Philippine Red Cross’s ongoing engagement with various national societies, including the Afghanistan Red Crescent Society, to strengthen ties, reinforce the mission of alleviating human suffering, and build a more resilient world through humanitarian service.
