Close to P2 million worth of insurance claims were released recently to 33 beneficiaries of the Barangay Insurance Program of the Province of Negros Occidental by Governor Bong Lacson.

The recipients of the life insurance checks were the families of 21 former tanods, eight barangay officials and four barangay health workers.

Beneficiaries were extended with P50,000 to a maximum of P155,000 life insurance benefits.

They were extended with P50,000 to a maximum of P155,000 life insurance benefits under the tripartite MOA arrangement by the Provincial Government, local government units (LGUs) and barangays.

Lacson reminded the claimants to spend the benefits they received for priority needs of their families.

Now in its 23rd year, the Barangay Insurance Program has proven to be one of the impact projects of the Provincial Government.

It is implemented through the Peace and Order Fund under the Office of the Provincial Administrator and managed by the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO).
