SAMAR BAGS 4TH AWARD FOR GOOD LOCAL GOVERNANCE

The Province of Samar, under the leadership of Governor Sharee Ann Tan, has once again received the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

This marks the fourth time (2016, 2019, 2023 & 2024) Samar has achieved this recognition, a testament of effective governance and public service.

The SGLG is awarded to local government units (LGUs) that excel in areas such as financial transparency, disaster preparedness, social protection, health services, peace and order, environmental protection, and business-friendliness.

Samar’s repeated recognition highlights the province’s consistent pursuit of excellence in these areas.

In a ceremony held at the Manila Hotel, Tan accepted the award on behalf of the provincial government, expressing her gratitude to her team and the people of Samar for their collective effort.

Under the lady governor’s administration, Samar has implemented various programs aimed at improving education, healthcare, and infrastructure. These efforts have contributed significantly to the province’s eligibility for the SGLG.

Samar’s achievement is particularly significant given the challenges it has faced in recent years, including natural disasters and the lingering effects of the pandemic. Despite these hurdles, the province has demonstrated resilience and innovation, qualities that she emphasized are critical in sustaining progress.

The SGLG award was also conferred to seven (7) LGU’s in the Province of Samar.
