Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco warmly welcomed Jamaican Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett during his courtesy call at the newly inaugurated Centro de Turismo Intramuros in Manila.
“Delighted to welcome the Minister of Tourism of Jamaica Edmund Bartlett and grateful to accept his compliments for the Philippines which was awarded the Global Tourism Resilience Award by the World Travel Awards in 2023, being one of only 5 nations given this inaugural recognition,” Frasco said.
“We discussed shared priorities such as tourism human capital development, social equity in tourism opportunities, community-based tourism, and sustainable development.”

“I also highlighted our flagship programs—the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE), the Tourism Champions Challenge (TCC), and the Philippine Experience Program (PEP)—which reflect our commitment to empowering local communities and promoting environmental and cultural sustainability,” she said.
The tourism chief also underscored the Philippines’ recognition as one of the first recipients of the Global Tourism Resilience Award at the 2023 World Travel Awards, highlighting the country’s innovative leadership in overcoming tourism challenges.
Joining the courtesy call were Honorary Consul Remedios Salud Tesoro Guerrero, DOT Undersecretaries Verna Buensuceso and Ferdinand Jumapao, Intramuros Administration Administrator Joan Padilla, and Director Arlene Alipio.
During the visit, Frasco gave Bartlett a tour of the Centro de Turismo Intramuros.
