The Department of Tourism (DOT) announced that Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco secured the second ranking among the Marcos administration’s top-performing cabinet officials, as revealed in the latest “Boses ng Bayan” performance assessment conducted by RP- Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD) from September 20-30, 2024.

With a job performance rating of 92.7%, Frasco shares a statistical tie for second place with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian, who received a 93.5% rating.

This recognition underscores the tourism chief’s unwavering dedication to enhancing the Philippine tourism sector, positioning it as a vital pillar of the country’s economic growth and cultural promotion.

The top spot was secured by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr., who achieved a 95.8% rating.

The independent and non-commissioned survey reflects Frasco’s exceptional leadership and commitment to the revitalization of tourism in the post-pandemic era.

Under her stewardship, the DOT has launched initiatives aimed at promoting the Philippines as a top global destination, embracing sustainability, and enriching the travel experience for both domestic and international tourists.

“This achievement is not mine alone but shared with the entire team at the Department of Tourism.”

“I am deeply honored and grateful to be recognized as one of the top-performing cabinet officials in the Marcos administration. This achievement is not mine alone but shared with the entire team at the Department of Tourism, whose tireless efforts and passion for showcasing the beauty and culture of our country have driven us forward,” she said.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to elevate Philippine tourism to greater heights.”

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for his unwavering support, as well as to our partners and stakeholders in the tourism industry for their trust and collaboration. Most importantly, I thank the Filipino people for their continued confidence in our vision and programs. We remain steadfast in our commitment to elevate Philippine tourism to greater heights, making it a source of pride and prosperity for all,” Frasco added as she shared her gratitude on the recognition.

The nationwide survey engaged 10,000 adult respondents across various regions, with a ±1% margin of error and a 95% confidence level, providing an accurate representation of public sentiment.

The results showed that all cabinet officials scored above the passing threshold, highlighting the administration’s overall dedication to effective governance.

According to the DOT, Frasco’s performance score is a testament to her ongoing efforts to strengthen the Philippines’ position in the global tourism market and support the Marcos administration’s vision of inclusive growth and sustainable development.

She has consistently occupied the top three RPMD survey rankings since 2022.

The DOT remains committed to delivering impactful programs that celebrate the beauty, culture, and heritage of the Philippines while fostering responsible tourism and enriching the experiences of all visitors.
