Bacolod City proudly announced the successful completion of its PET Bottles Collection Campaign during Masskara Festival 2024, resulting in the collection of an impressive 445,455 PET bottles amounting to 8,097.29 kg of plastic waste.
This initiative, held from October 11-27, 2024, was a joint effort of the Bacolod City Local Government, Coca-Cola Philippines, Bacolod Environmental and Natural Resources Office (BENRO), Yuhum Foundation, and Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies Inc. (BEST, Inc.).
“My heartfelt thanks to Coca-Cola Philippines for their support and for building on the success of the Tindahan Extra Mile Program launched with BEST earlier this year.”
“My heartfelt thanks to Coca-Cola Philippines for their support and for building on the success of the Tindahan Extra Mile Program launched with BEST earlier this year,” Mayor Albee Benitez said.
To ensure that plastic waste generated during the festival is responsibly managed and recycled, 169 Tindahan Extra Mile (TEM) Bins were deployed across the city, supported by 108 concessionaires.
A total of 21 barangays, along with 40 informal waste settlers and 205 sweepers, contributed to the PET bottle collection.
“Now, with the help of BENRO and Yuhum Foundation, we’re working to ensure every Bacolodnon and festival-goer understands the importance of proper waste disposal and environmental stewardship,” Benitez stressed.
These efforts have ensured that every PET bottle from the Masskara Festival sites will be gathered and 100% recycled.
