The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed vital flood control structures along the upstream and downstream sections of the Langogan River in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
Implemented by DPWH – Palawan 3rd District Engineering Office, the projects involve the construction of revetment walls on the upstream and downstream of the river measuring 77.7-meter and 82.8-meter, respectively, with esplanades, including earthworks.
It also covers the provision of drainage and slope protection to mitigate the risks of flooding and water overflowing following the serious damages caused by Typhoon Odette in 2021 in Barangay Langogan and its neighboring communities.
Based on the report of DPWH Regional Office IV-B Director Gerald Pacanan to Secretary Manuel Bonoan, these newly built defenses strengthen the river basin’s foundation, preventing erosion and mitigating the risk of flooding, thereby ensuring greater safety for the riverside community.

Funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the flood control projects in the upstream and downstream of the Langogan River were completed at P17.36 Million and P14.65 Million, respectively.
