The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) started the special screenings of the iconic MMFF movies from the past 50 years in various cinemas at an affordable rate of P50 as part of its celebration for its 50th edition.
The special screening of “Jose Rizal” happened in SM Manila in the City of Manila, the festival’s host city this year, aimed to honor one of the most awarded and iconic films that have helped shape the MMFF and Philippine cinema throughout the years.
MMDA Chairman and MMFF Overall Concurrent Chairman Atty. Don Artes said “Jose Rizal” is one film embodying the festival’s commitment to showcasing films that are both artistically excellent and culturally significant.
“In showcasing this film, we not only celebrate the exceptional talent and artistic excellence of our filmmakers and artists, but also emphasize the importance of storytelling in preserving our history and culture.”

The film portrays the life and final days of Dr. Jose Rizal, who is the country’s national hero.
Written by National Artist, Ricky Lee, and directed by the highly talented Marilou Diaz-Abaya, “Jose Rizal” captures the life, struggles and legacy of our national hero, whose vision and courage continue to inspire the Filipinos.
Movie’s lead actor Cesar Montano and scriptwriter Ricky Lee also joined the talk back session, one of the features of the “Sigla Sa Singkwenta 50@50”.
The talk back session, through interactive conversations with them, provides an opportunity for the audience to gain deeper insights regarding the film they have watched.
