The DPWH has completed the installation of essential road safety devices along the Lucena-Tayabas-Lucban-Sampaloc-Mauban Port Road, ensuring motorists’ safety, especially along the challenging terrain of Barangays Kilib, Kabatete, and Piis in Lucban, Quezon.
The Lucena-Tayabas-Lucban-Sampaloc-Mauban Port Road is known for its winding, sloping terrain, particularly within the mountainous regions of Lucban.
Several segments are prone to accidents, and the absence of street lighting has further increased the risk for motorists, especially at night.
“Double roller safety barriers and supplemental hazard markers were installed along 740 linear meters of the identified most dangerous curved segments of the road.”
DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 4A, said that double roller safety barriers and supplemental hazard markers (chevron signs) were installed along 740 linear meters of the identified most dangerous curved segments of the road to address the issue.
“The reflectorized barriers and hazard markers greatly enhance visibility during adverse weather conditions and nighttime travel, providing much-needed guidance and safety for all road users,” Bonoan said.
The project underscores the government’s commitment in safeguarding the lives and properties of its citizens by investing in crucial road safety infrastructure.
Implemented by the DPWH Quezon 1st District Engineering Office, the project was completed in the amount of P95.06 million, funded through the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
