The Iloilo provincial government distributed P1 million financial aid to all 43 local government units under its disaster risk reduction and management fund during the 1st Provincial DRRM Summit at Pototan Astrodome recently.
The amount will be used to mitigate the effects of the El Niño phenomenon and to support the Project 1-43 (1 Province, 43 City/Municipalities) for Tanum Iloilo which is a tree growing activity.
Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. said the summit is a gathering of force and an opportunity to strengthen collaboration with the stakeholders.
“This is a time for us to strengthen our collaboration in terms of DRRM under MoRProGRes ILOILO.”

The 43 LGUs also received communication devices and portable generating systems to promote the renewable energy concept.
The municipality of San Enrique received P1.5 million aid for the purchase of disaster tools and equipment while the municipality of Tigbauan got P5 million for the construction of a Civil Defense Operations Hub (Resilience Hub).

Salinas thanked the municipalities for their participation in the summit which showcased “a singular act of unity and a higher level of collaboration among the MDRRMOs”.
The summit featured an exhibit of DRRM assets and capacity resources of each municipality.
