As part of the weeklong celebration of the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) 51st founding anniversary, 219 job order personnel and contract of service providers, including the DOT’s security guards and janitorial services from the Central Office, received over P10.9 million worth of free accident insurance coverage.
Personally funded by Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco as a token of appreciation for their hard work during the past two years of the current administration, the insurance coverage is intended to provide financial aid to the employees in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
“I’m really hopeful na sa pamamagitan ng maliit na gift na ito (na) handog namin sa inyo, na maramdaman niyo kung gaano kayo namin minamahal dito sa Department of Tourism.”
“I’m really hopeful na sa pamamagitan ng maliit na gift na ito (na) handog namin sa inyo, na maramdaman niyo kung gaano kayo namin minamahal dito sa Department of Tourism. We’re very grateful for your service. We know na hindi natin maaabot iyong lahat ng nagawa na natin in less than two years kung wala ‘yong inyong contribution sa ating Departamento,” Frasco said in a meet and greet held in the DOT.
“We appreciate all of your contributions, and we earnestly hope and pray that this will encourage you to continue the hard work.”
“Huwag niyo isipin na dahil hindi regular iyong status ng employment ninyo na iyong contribution ninyo is not appreciated by us. We appreciate all of you, we appreciate all of your contributions, and we earnestly hope and pray that this will encourage you to continue the hard work that you’ve been giving to the Department in support of this administration,” the tourism chief added.
The free insurance coverage is valid for one year and is renewable the following year.
Speaking on behalf of the job order personnel, Joesel Vival from the Office of Product and Market Development, expressed his gratitude to the Secretary.
“It’s truly heartwarming to see that our head of the agency recognizes the efforts of all employees, not just (those in) permanent positions, but also job orders. Regardless of the employment relationship status, this token of appreciation speaks volumes about the Secretary’s commitment to inclusivity and appreciation for everyone,” Vival stressed.
