Agricultural communities now benefit from the constructed revetment structure, which is part of the San Fernando-Macate-Abinganan Flood Control Project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) along Sta. Fe River in Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya.
Built by the DPWH Nueva Vizcaya First District Engineering Office, the project features a 650-linear-meter rubble concrete wall with anchorage, embankment, mattresses, and gabions, which serves as a barrier against the overflow of the Sta. Fe River section in Barangay Macate.
“The newly constructed river wall structure will mitigate the perennial threat of flooding in the area caused by the overflowing of Sta. Fe River.”
DPWH Nueva Vizcaya First District Engineer Marifel Andes reported to Secretary Manual Bonoan and Undersecretary Eugenio Pipo Jr. that the newly constructed river wall structure will mitigate the perennial threat of flooding in the area caused by the overflowing of Sta. Fe River.
“The completion of the flood mitigation project promises a new era of safety, economic stability, and environmental protection for the riverside barangay,” Andes said.
The flood control project was completed in the amount of P48.2 million, funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
