House members lauded President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s receptiveness to public concerns, following his directive for wage boards to reassess the minimum wage nationwide.
Isabela Representative Faustino Dy V, Tingog Party-list Representative Jude Acidre, and Taguig City Representative Amparo Maria Zamora also answered the call of other lawmakers to certify the wage hike bills as urgent and emphasized caution amidst economic challenges.

“Ito po ay dumadaan sa tamang proseso, pinapakinggan po natin lahat ng ating mga stakeholders, lahat po ng mga labor organizers, mga unions at iba pa para maka-arrive po tayo sa mas maganda at mas sustainable na solution para po sa ating mga manggagawa,” the veteran legislator added.
Acidre and Zamora also underscored the meticulous approach to the ongoing wage hike discussions, as well as the significance of all stakeholders’ inputs as they navigate the issue.
“Hindi naman ho natin sinasabi na hindi na siya option sa ngayon. Pero ang ginagawa po natin ay makinig sa lahat ng mga sectors na involved,” Acidre said.
“Habang gusto man natin na guminhawa ang buhay ng ating mga manggagawa, tumaas ang sweldo ng ating manggagawa, ay gusto din naman natin na hindi magsara ang ating mga negosyo.”
“Lalong lalo na kasi habang gusto man natin na guminhawa ang buhay ng ating mga manggagawa, tumaas ang sweldo ng ating manggagawa, ay gusto din naman natin na hindi magsara ang ating mga negosyo, at hindi rin maapektuhan ang kakayahan ng ating mga employer na makapagbigay ng sakto at tamang trabaho sa ating mga kababayan,” the legislator explained.
The lawmaker added that the wage hike proposals are now being discussed in the House Committee on Labor and Employment, and as per procedural rules, the President can only certify them as urgent if the bill advances to the plenary.
