The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the rehabilitation and strengthening of the typhoon-damaged Lalog Bridge, restoring connectivity in Luna, Isabela.
DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Region II Director Reynaldo Alconcel, said that the project addressed the structural deficiencies of Lalog Bridge by replacing nine span steel decks, nine piers reinforced with 18 pieces of steel casing each, and by installing 35 stringer beams.
The bridge connecting Barangay Lalog 2 to the rest of Luna, suffered extensive damage during Typhoon Ulysses in November 2020 and Typhoon Paeng in October 2022, which hindered transportation and posed a threat to the community’s safety and economic stability.
“The bridge facilitates residents’ access to essential services, including health facilities, schools, and trade establishments, furthering the socio-economic development of the area.”
