WORK ON DINAGAT ISLANDS TOURISM ROAD FAST-TRACKED

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is continuously working on a multi-year tourism road project in Dinagat Islands.

DPWH Regional Office 13 Director Pol Delos Santos reported to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan that the construction of a 3.3-kilometer access road project in the Municipality of Cagdianao is ongoing implemented by the DPWH Dinagat Islands District Engineering Office (DEO).

“The construction and improvement of Brgy. Del Pilar via Brgy. Nueva Strella Road will lead to a convenient and safe route to draw more tourist arrivals in Cagdianao’s scenic destinations such as the Pilar Dam and Hinabyan Beach which at present are only reachable by boat.”

“With a total project cost of P282 million under multi-year implementation, the construction and improvement of Barangay Del Pilar via Barangay Nueva Strella Road will lead to a convenient and safe route to draw more tourist arrivals in Cagdianao’s scenic destinations such as the Pilar Dam and Hinabyan Beach which at present are only reachable by boat,” Delos Santos explained.

The DPWH Dinagat Islands DEO has recently finished the P7.5-million construction of a 140-meter concrete road segment with drainage and slope protection structures along the access road.

With this completed segment, a total of 928 meters of the access road is now already constructed through the P42.5-million funding released for the project as of December 2023.

For 2024, an initial amount of P5 million was released to kick-off the first stages of abutment construction for a 70-meter bridge component of the Barangay Del Pilar via Barangay Nueva Strella Road.
