Malungon Mayor Tessa Constantino and Sarangani Congressman Steve Chiongbian Solon led the official groundbreaking and capsule-laying ceremony for the construction of a P72 million-worth Department of Public Works and Highways-funded bridge project in Sitio Buntalan, Poblacion, Malungon, Sarangani Province.
Constantino said because of the heavy flash flood that took place two years ago leaving in ruin most of the town’s foot and concreted bridges, the restoration of the bridge in Sitio Buntalan gives access to the other eight barangays to revive the economic sustainability in the town’s central district.
This is particularly beneficial to farmers that rely on the availability of the overpass for the delivery of their farm produce.
“After being destroyed, this bridge, which was built by our previous Representative James L. Chiongbian, will now rise anew.”
“After being destroyed, this bridge, which was built by our previous Representative James L. Chiongbian, will now rise anew,” the lady mayor said.
“This time, by no less another Chiongbian, in the person of the former’s grandson, our beloved Congressman Steve C. Solon, who has worked hard and initiated the means for its restoration,” she added.
Constantino also thanked Governor Ruel Pacquiao, who also helped in putting up the alternative access for damaged roads and bridges after the 2022 catastrophe that left Malungon Municipality with a wreckage of more or less 125 million-worth of infrastructure and farmlands.
“The project’s completion will be on or before the month of December ends this year.”
Solon said he will closely observe and look at the bridge construction’s implementation, in which no less Sarangani DPWH District Engr. Rey Francisco himself gave the assurance of its completion on or before the month of December ends this year.
Representing Pacquiao, PLGU Administrator, Atty. Ryan Ramos also assured Malungonians of unrelenting support from the Sarangani Provincial Government in all forms of developmental thrust and in times of emergency that are brought about by any man-made or natural disasters.
Those who also graced the said event were the Congressman’s chief of staff, Engr. Gerard Faciol, the 15th Sangguniang Bayan members headed by Vice Mayor Mariano Escalada Jr., SP Board members, and the Poblacion Barangay Council led by Barangay Captain Reynaldo Dela Cuesta.
