ROAD FOR REMOTE DAVAO DE ORO COMMUNITIES FINISHED

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently improved a local road to provide ease of access to far-flung communities in the Municipality of Montevista, Davao de Oro.

DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Juby Cordon, in her report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, said that a two-lane concrete road was constructed to connect the once hard to reach Barangay San Vicente to the section of Daang Maharlika in Barangay Linoan.

“A two-lane concrete road was constructed to connect the once hard to reach Barangay San Vicente to the section of Daang Maharlika in Barangay Linoan.”

The 1.95-kilometer road also has reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings to optimize safety of users and necessary drainage structures.

According to Cordon, the road improvement is critical to speed up economic growth and development by supporting additional food production, encourage both tourism and non-tourism activities, and spur local trade in the area.

The DPWH Davao de Oro Second District Engineering Office (DEO) implemented the P100 million road construction through the Convergence and Special Support Program – Sustainable Infrastructure Projects Alleviating Gaps (CSSP-SIPAG) under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2023.
