The Department of Public Works and Highways recently completed its newest flood mitigation initiative along the Bayambang River in Infanta, Pangasinan.
In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, Region I Director Ronnel Tan said that the project implemented in the flood-prone part of Barangay Bayambang involved the construction of reinforced concrete revetment complemented by rigid floodwalls along the 403-meter section of the Bayambang River.
Other scope of works covers the installation of steel sheet piles and strategic soil embankment measures.
“It protects residential and agricultural lands from potential damage caused by heavy rains and typhoons.”
“The completion of this project holds vital importance for the local community as it protects residential and agricultural lands from potential damage caused by heavy rains and typhoons,” Tan said.
With a total cost of 77.2 million, the flood mitigation project began construction in March 2023 and was completed in December 2023.
