The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a vital infrastructure project aimed at safeguarding lives, properties, and agricultural lands in Lagawe, Ifugao.
In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, DPWH Region CAR Director Khadaffy Tanggol said that the completed flood control project at the Tungngod Side and Baliwong Flood Structure along the Lagawe River is a 1.59-kilometer-long, 5-meter-high retaining wall with 3-meter reinforced concrete top, and grouted riprap, fortifying the embankment against erosions.
“The Lagawe River project also integrated an efficient drainage system for directing the water runoff from adjacent rice fields toward the river, mitigating flood risks during intense typhoons.”

With a total cost of P111.5 million, the project was implemented by the Cordillera Administrative Regional Office and Ifugao First District Engineering Office.
“The completion of the revetment wall project not only safeguards flood-risk areas against natural disasters but also fosters an environment conducive to improved agricultural output and enhanced livelihoods,” the public works official concluded.
