BOHOL OPENS FIRST TOURIST REST AREA

The Provincial Government of Bohol underscored that the official turnover of the first completed Department of Tourism (DOT) Tourist Rest Area (TRA) in the province is a welcome development for the province as Bohol enters “a new and exciting chapter” post-pandemic.

“Bohol’s tourism industry is now entering a new and exciting chapter. As we continue to recover from the effects of the pandemic, we are entering a phase in which we must diversify our offerings for our guests and introduce our island paradise as more than just the white sand beaches of Panglao to the rolling slopes of Chocolate Hills,” Provincial Administrator Aster Caberte said, who represented and read the message of Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado during the inauguration of Bohol’s first TRA.

Aumentado also expressed his gratitude to the DOT under the leadership of Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco as well as to the Department’s infrastructure arm, the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), the funding source of the project.

We aim to elevate Bohol’s edge as a prime tourist destination through various investments, both public and private.”

“The Provincial Government of Bohol, expresses its deepest gratitude to the Department of Tourism, especially headed by Secretary Christina Frasco, and Tourism infrastructure Enterprise Zone Authority for this project. We aim to elevate Bohol’s edge as a prime tourist destination through various investments, both public and private,” the governor said.

“We have a promise to the Boholano people-that is to make Bohol a smart, resilient, and inclusive province through sustainable tourism.”

“This Tourist Rest Area is one such infrastructure that we truly need. We have a promise to the Boholano people-that is to make Bohol a smart, resilient, and inclusive province through sustainable tourism,” he added.

For his part, Dauis Mayor Roman Bullen said that the turnover ceremony is a significant step for the municipality of Dauis as well as for the entire Bohol province.

“I could say that the Department of Tourism and TIEZA have chosen the best strategic location for the tourist area since our municipality is located in the sweet spot, which is the middle of Tagbilaran City and municipality of Panglao,” Bullen said.

Visitors who plan to visit the famed Alona Beach in Panglao, Virgin Island Sandbar, Balicasag Island, and Baclayon Church may opt to pass by the newly inaugurated TRA in Dauis.

The new tourist facility features a tourist information center, lounge and charging stations, a coffee bar, clean restrooms with showers, a lactation room for breastfeeding mothers, and a pasalubong center to showcase local products of Bohol-based Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

The TRA also features artworks featuring the signature Chocolate Hills and Philippine Tarsier.

The town of Dauis is one of the municipalities comprising Panglao Island. This is home to numerous tourism offerings including the Hinagdanan Cave, Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Bikini Beach, Bingag Beach, and San Isidro Beach.
