DPWH COMPLETES PROJECTS IN 2 AURORA TOWNS

Locals in two towns of Aurora are reaping the benefits of two road projects and two flood control structures completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

In his reports to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller Tolentino identified the Municipalities of Dipaculao and Maria Aurora as the recipient towns of P19.6-million road improvement works and P58.8-million slope protection constructions along sections of the Pacugao River.

In the town of Dipaculao, the paving of a local road in Barangay Bayabas covering 1.7 kilometer with box culverts, lined canal, and stone masonry was completed to boost access, safety, and economic opportunities by enhancing the tourism industry of the community.

Another completed road project was the concreting of 680-lineal-meter section of a local road in Barangay Wenceslao, Maria Aurora.

“The road project alleviates transport and logistic challenges faced by local farmers in hauling their agricultural crops such as rice and coconuts.”

Meanwhile, lives and properties in Maria Aurora communities are now better protected against flooding with the completion of 270.71-lineal-meter and 264.76-lineal-meter concrete slope protection structures along the sections of Pacugao River in Barangay Bayanihan and Barangay Kadayacan, respectively.

Both flood protective structures complement existing flood walls along the areas and were built on steel sheet pile foundation with the provision of a reinforced concrete box culvert for the concrete slope protection in Barangay Kadayacan to increase Pacugao River’s capacity and mitigate recurring floods.

The DPWH Aurora District Engineering Office (DEO) oversaw the implementations of the projects funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of fiscal year 2023.
