In celebration of the 123rd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA), government officials and employees from various regions came together as they held the nationwide Medical Mission of Government Workers on 28 September 2023.
The medical mission’s aim was to provide basic medical and dental services to the marginalized sectors all over the country.
“Public service is rooted in the promise to uplift the marginalized and those with limited access to essential services. As a way to give back to communities, this year’s PCSA celebration includes medical mission activities to be held in different parts of the country,” said CSC Chairperson Karlo Nograles.
The annual PCSA celebration commemorates the signing of Public Law No. 5 or An Act for the Establishment and Maintenance of an Efficient and Honest Civil Service in the Philippine Islands on 19 September 1900.
Under the guidance of Acting Director IV Rosalinda A. Tanaliga-Oliva, CSC Regional Office III took the lead in organizing the nationwide medical mission that included dental services for a diverse group of beneficiaries. This group consisted of Indigenous Peoples, elderly in centers and homecare, persons with disabilities, abandoned children and battered women in shelters, juvenile delinquents, and persons deprived of liberty.
Farm workers, fisher folks, informal settlers, and street dwellers were also invited to receive basic medical check-ups.
“The fourth week of the PCSA gives importance to pasasalamat or expressing gratitude and recognizing the valuable support of all government employees and stakeholders in helping us reach 123 years of excellent service. Extending assistance to our kababayans is the best way to cap this month-long celebration of public service and resilience,” said Chairperson Nograles.
