Works are on-going for the construction of a new multi-purpose building (MPB) that will serve as a public market in Isabela City, Basilan.
According to Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 9 Director Cayamombao Dia, the project entails the construction of a two-storey facility in the amount of P70-million, that would host small and large enterprises in the province.

Built within an area of 8,830 square meters, the MPB is expected to cater to the daily necessities of approximately 130,379 locals in Isabela City.
“When completed, the new public market will become the center of economic activity, providing business opportunities to locals and farmers,” Dia explained.
Construction works on the MPB are implemented by DPWH Isabela City District Engineering Office funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
