Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco graced the Governor’s Night hosted by the City of Gingoog.
The program was jointly sponsored by the different local governments of Misamis Oriental and spearheaded by its Governor Peter “Sr. Pedro” Unabia.
The event is part of the NorthMin Dive Festival and MisOr Dive Festival Underwater Shootout at the grounds of the Gingoog City Hall and was attended by festival participants and well-wishers.
Frasco, in her remarks, expressed how the Festivals serve as an inspiration for the promotion and betterment of many of our unknown and underrated tourism destinations and portfolios.
“I would like to express my resounding support for all the hard work that has been done to build up the dive tourism in Misamis Oriental and the entire region.”

During the program, DOT Regional Director May Unchuan presented a historical run through of how the initial concept of the Festival originated as early as 2017, and evolved to its present status which the different local governments have been very supportive of.
This later became the First Filipino Dive Expo sponsored by the DOT, which now forms part of the Festival that made Misamis Oriental known internationally as a dive destination.
Officials of the DOT present at the event include Undersecretary Ferdinand Jumapao, Assistant Secretary Christopher Morales, Philippine Commission on Sports Scuba Diving Executive Director Marco Angelo Ancheta, Region X Director May Unchuan, Region XI Director Tanya Rabat-Tan, NCR Director Sharlene Zabala-Batin and Director Ronald Conopio.
