The Department of Health (DOH), represented by OIC-Undersecretary and Chief of Staff Dr. Gloria Balboa and the DOH Health Emergency Management Bureau (HEMB), recently led the conduct of the 2023 Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health (DRRM-H) Learning and Development Summit held in Olongapo City, Zambales.
The activity has been attended by the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health (DRRM-H) Managers of the DOH Centers for Health Development (CHDs), Hospitals and Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Centers and other health sector partners.
The event was conducted in response to global and national appeal to intensify efforts towards Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health institutionalization, operationalization, and localization.
In cooperation with other health sector partners such as World Health Organization, Zeullig Family Foundation, American Health Association, University of the Philippines, Manila, Philippine College of Emergency Medicine, Civil Service Institute and Local Government Academy, the event was conducted in response to global and national appeal to intensify efforts towards Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health (DRRM-H) institutionalization, operationalization, and localization.
This event also aims to build competency in the Province-wide and City-wide Health System across the areas of DRRM in promoting disaster mitigation, disaster preparedness, disaster response, and disaster recovery and rehabilitation to create a safer, more adaptive, and disaster-resilient Filipino communities.
“Mahalaga ang pagpapalawig ng kaalaman sa disaster risk reduction and management in health upang ang mga lokal na komunidad ay maging handa sa anumang krisis, dahil sa Healthy Pilipinas, bawat buhay ay mahalaga,” stressed Health Secretary Teddy Herbosa.
