The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) warmly welcomed newly appointed Secretary of Health (SOH) Teddy Herbosa to its 8th Regular Board Meeting.
The Health Secretary is the ex officio non-voting Chairperson of the PhilHealth Board of Directors, its highest governing body. He joins 10 other ex officio and expert panel members currently in service.
“We at PhilHealth are stewards of the People’s money, that we must promptly and efficiently use to pay for health services that save lives.”
In his message to the Board, Herbosa reminded that “we at PhilHealth are stewards of the People’s money, that we must promptly and efficiently use to pay for health services that save lives… As much money as we can actually pay must be disbursed for health care benefits.”
As soon as the earthquake that affected Metro Manila ended and it was deemed safe for Board Members there to connect via hybrid set-up, the Board began deliberating issues concerning the prompt payment of pandemic frontline hospitals, the roll-out of primary care provider networks in “sandbox” sites, and the resolution of appeals of hospitals regarding claims payments.
Herbosa and the board members welcomed updates about new accounting guidelines for primary care capitation payments by the Commission on Audit (COA).
They also promptly acted on the appeals of three hospitals regarding PhilHealth payments.
“Under my watch, PhilHealth will resolve the appeals of our hospitals and doctors swiftly.”
“Under my watch, PhilHealth will resolve the appeals of our hospitals and doctors swiftly,” the health chief said.
“We will decide using the principles of compassion and social justice, forgiving those who committed honest mistakes and punishing those who dare take advantage of our national health insurance. Ito ay dahil sa bawat buhay ay mahalaga – we must ensure continuous access to quality health care by our members,” the health head stressed.
