PROVINCIAL BUSES ALLOWED IN EDSA DURING HOLY WEEK

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that provincial buses shall be allowed on EDSA during the Holy Week.

From April 3 to 5, provincial buses will be allowed on EDSA from 10 pm to 5 am; and from April 6 to 10, round-a-clock.

This is to accommodate the expected influx of passengers going to the provinces for the observance of the Holy Week.

The MMDA added that provincial buses coming from North Luzon shall terminate their trips at the bus terminals in Cubao, Quezon City.

Meanwhile, provincial buses coming from South Luzon shall terminate their trips at the bus terminals in Pasay City.

This is to allow the provincial buses to accommodate the expected high number of passengers going to the provinces for the Lenten season.

The MMDA has earlier announced that a multi-agency command center (MACC) shall be set up at the agency’s Metrobase to ensure a peaceful and meaningful observance of Lent this year.

“The MACC will give way to a faster and more coordinated traffic management response.”

According to MMDA Acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes, the MACC will give way to a faster and more coordinated traffic management response as the inter-agency task force monitors the status of key transport hubs and major roads through closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs).

“Through this inter-agency action center, we can monitor real-time updates on bus terminals across Metro Manila to ensure safer travel of the commuting public and orderly traffic flow in our roads as we observe the Holy Week,” Artes explained.
