Former National Power Corporation President and CEO and 17-year Provincial Administrator of the Provincial Government of Bulacan Ma. Gladys Cruz-Sta. Rita from the town of Marilao was hailed as the Natatanging Babae during the Gawad Medalyang Ginto held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.
Aside from the position she held in the government, Sta. Rita is the current President of Tahanang Mapagpala ng Immaculada Concepcion Foundation Inc., an orphanage for abandoned elderly women; President of Dangal ng Bulacan Foundation. Inc.; and a Trustee of the Galing Pook Awards Foundation, Inc.
The Natatanging Babae 2023 is also the author of “Running a Bureaucracy”, a University of the Philippines Centennial Book published by the UP-NCPAG in 2008.
“Women are not only the light of the household but also the foundation of a strong home.”
Governor Daniel Fernando said that women are not only the light of the household but also the foundation of a strong home because the strength of a family comes from the strength of a mother.
“Tungkulin po nating bigyan din ang mga kababaihan ng kapanatagang mamuhay sa isang malaya, ligtas, at inklusibong lipunan,” Fernando stressed.
“Panahon na upang lumikha ng isang mundong ang mga kababaihan ay pantay na kasama sa lahat ng aspeto ng lipunan.”
“Tapos na po ang panahong nakakahon lamang sila sa ano ang dapat nilang suotin o gawin. Panahon na upang pagbuksan natin sila ng maraming pintuan tungo sa kanilang pag-unlad. Panahon na upang lumikha ng isang mundong ang mga kababaihan ay pantay na kasama sa lahat ng aspeto ng lipunan,” the governor added.
Other winners for the Gawad Medalyang Ginto include the Soroptimist International of Plaridel for Natatanging Samahang Pangkababaihan; KPK Norzagaray for Matagumpay na KPK; Mariel Lyn Biason of Norzagaray for Matagumpay na Babaeng Mangangalakal; Esterlita San Miguel of Marilao for Matagumpay na Babaeng Makakalikasan; and Mary Jane Delos Isla for Huwarang Babae sa Makabagong Pagnenegosyo.
Gawad Medalyang Ginto is given to Bulakenyas who have invaluable contributions to the province and served as inspiration and movers of programs that will uplift the well-being and welfare of women.
