Albay Governor Edcel Greco Lagman assured his constituents that the Masinloc Coal Power Plant will assist in the recovery of Albay Electric Cooperative (ALECO) for a year.
“With the assistance of some philanthropists, Albayanos are guaranteed a steady electricity supply for one year while major negotiations are being conducted to resolve issues relative to the power supply in the province,” the governor stressed.
Lagman said this at the press briefing at the Governor’s Guest House recently.
The National Electrification and Administration (NEA) AGM Engr. Wilfredo Bucsit said that the Masinloc Coal Power Plant is a subsidiary of San Miguel Corporation (SMC) Global Power, located at Masinloc, Zambales.
Meanwhile, ALECO is doing everything to escalate its collection efficiency from the consumers and trim down systems losses to regain the grandeur of the cooperative.

The fate, however, of Albay regarding power supply in the following months and years is still uncertain due to the transition of power supply management.

ALECO took over in managing the province’s power supply after winning against Albay Power and Energy Corporation (APEC) during the Special General Membership Assembly held last September 3, 2022.
Lagman reiterated the concept of “moral ascendancy,” that if some are painstakingly paying their electric dues, then everyone should follow suit.
“It is everyone’s duty to oblige. It is the moral-communal obligation to the province,” he concluded.
