Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte expressed gratitude to QCitizens for heeding her call for a safe celebration of the new year.
QC’s three city-run hospitals reported 26 cases of firecracker-related injuries and one stray bullet case.
The total number of firecracker-related injuries in NCR was pegged at 125.

“Nagpapasalamat din po tayo sa QCitizens na nakiisa sa ating kampanya upang maiwasan ang pagdami ng mga kaso ng firecracker injuries at maging mas ligtas at masaya ang pagpasok ng bagong taon,” the lady mayor added.
The Quezon City Police District also reported zero deaths and declared the celebration of new year “generally peaceful”.
On New Year’s Eve, the QCPD reported one case of indiscriminate firing in Barangay Kaligayahan. The Pasong Putik Police Station 16 recovered a pistol, two magazines with seven bullets, and seven spent shells from the suspect according to the QCPD Public Information Office.
Before the holidays, Belmonte issued an executive order regulating the manufacture, sale and use of firecrackers throughout the city, and allowed fireworks only in places approved by the city government.

The local police district together with the city law and order cluster headed by the Department of Public Order and Safety conducted Operation Ligtas Paputok to enforce Executive Order No. 54 Series of 2022.
QCPD also destroyed more than P800,000-worth of prohibited firecrackers and pyrotechnics during its intensified operations together with the 16 police stations, QCPD Explosive and Ordnance Division (EOD) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
The city government conducted its own fireworks display in Quezon Memorial Circle, simultaneously with malls such as SM, Robinsons and Eastwood, to welcome the new year.
