DPWH DEPLOYS QUICK RESPONSE TEAMS FOR KARDING

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Teams of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have been deployed in the wake of Typhoon Karding.

According to a report from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, quick response teams consisting of 8,963 personnel and 1,590 pieces of equipment have been told to monitor the state of the roads in select areas of Visayas and Luzon as early as Saturday, September 24.

“Quick response teams, consisting of 8,963 personnel and 1,590 pieces of equipment, have been told to monitor the state of the roads.”

“Our teams are prepositioned in order to quickly respond to ensure access along vital national road sections in all regions of Luzon which are expected to be hit by the typhoon, as well as in Region 6,” said DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan.

The DRRM Teams have also conducted other standard protocols in preparation for typhoon ‘Karding’ which include pruning of trees, declogging of drainage, and clearing of waterways along national roads.
