The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced the semi-finalists of its 1st National Art Competition, organized to provide an opportunity for young Filipino artists, 18-35 years old, to showcase their creativity and talent through drawing, painting, and other artistic forms.
A total of 314 participants have submitted artwork entries for the competition, using a wide variety of mediums and techniques, such as oil on canvas, oil paint, acrylic on canvas, acrylic, mixed media, ink on canvas, photography, gouache, watercolor, mixed medium, etc.
MMDA Acting Chairman Carlo Dimayuga III said the agency seeks to empower young artists through the competition, providing a venue for their artwork to be recognized.

The Board of Jurors (BOJ) selected 36 semi-finalists out of the submitted entries online with complete requirements. The semi-finalists are required to submit their actual works, which will be displayed at the new MMDA Building in Pasig City.
Entries came from different cities in Metro Manila, Cebu, Nueva Vizcaya, Bulacan, Cavite, North Cotabato, Pampanga, Rizal, and Baguio.
The contest began accepting entries on May 11, 2022, and the deadline for online entry submission was June 30, 2022.
The first prize winner will receive P300,000 and a scholarship.
