The Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) Party-list on Saturday lauded bowling icon Bong Coo for being honored with her very own commemorative stamp by the Philippine Postal Corporation.
“We congratulate Bong Coo for this recognition dahil hindi lang kung sino-sino ang binibigyan ng karangalan na mailagay sa selyo. That honor is reserved for our heroes and outstanding citizens who have done extraordinary deeds. And Bong Coo is both. She is a sports hero who has achieved greatness in her sport,” PBA Party-list spokesperson Atty. Migs Nograles said.
Coo, a four-time world champion and World Bowling Hall of Famer, was picked by the PhilPost as part of its Outstanding Filipinos Living Legends Series commemorative stamp.
“Nagpapasalamat din tayo sa PhilPost for recognizing and honoring Bong’s achievements,” she added.

“Akmang-akma ang pangalan ng event ng PhilPost ngayong araw: “SALAMAT-Pagpupugay sa mga Alamat” dahil tunay na alamat si Bong Coo. And beyond being a legend, she is an icon for all Filipino women for being one of the most decorated Filipino athletes of all time,” Nograles said.
Coo was inducted into the International Bowling Hall of Fame in 1993 at the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame in Arlington, Texas. In 2018, she was inducted into the Philippine Sports Hall of Fame, while the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) honored her with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019.
She is the latest Philippine athlete to be bestowed the honor by PhilPost.
Similar commemorative stamps were launched last year featuring basketball icon Robert Jaworski, first Filipino Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, and the Olympic boxing medalists Nesthy Petecio, Eumir Marcial, and Carlo Paalam.
