It’s exactly 14 days from today before 2022 takes on a new leaf. This year, however, has been tough for many of us. From mercury retrograde to a series of unexplained incidents, you are probably one of those people who couldn’t help but say ‘Bye, Felicia!” to 2021. But regardless of how good or bad this year has been to you; it’s still fitting that we close it out strong. So, let’s take on the challenge, put on a fight, and give 2021 a good one.
That struggle was really real. Remember when we were just waiting for 2021, hoping it’d be nicer to us than 2020 did? For many of us, it seemed like 2021 was the meaner sibling of 2020; wrath after wrath, problems over problems, failures over failures. There was just something inexplicable in the cluster of misfortunes people got this year.
We all expected things to get better, and it did for some. Others continue to feel the weight of everything that happened this year. However, 2021 is not all bad. If anything, 2021 taught us one of the most humbling life lessons. It made us remember something we might have already forgotten—simple joy can greatly change the way we see things.
Face up, stand tall
Despite all the struggles we faced and are still facing, we should never cease to celebrate the little wins and the simple things that make us smile. Small as they may seem, we’d take anything that could get us going when carrying on becomes difficult. When negativity surrounds us, may we choose to spark joy. Happiness is contagious; spread it, not the virus.
So, for you, my friend, when you start wrapping up this year, remember the good ones that kept you afloat. Take note of the challenges you experienced and learn from them. When you can, share with others your experiences. What better way to leave this year than imparting some knowledge and wisdom to other people?
Cliché-ridden as it may seem, you are more than capable of overcoming any challenges than you think. You have all the resources to thrive and be triumphant. If all else fails, just take a quick look behind you. People are rooting for you. May that be enough motivation for you to keep moving and keep carrying on. Give yourself a tap on back. You deserve all the good things in life. No one knows what the future holds. But believe that the good things to come are all yours for the taking.
