The House of Representatives paid tribute to the late Antipolo City 2nd District Representative Resurreccion Acop with the adoption of House Resolution 1810.
The measure seeks to express the profound condolences of the House to the family of Acop, who recently passed away at the age of 73.
It is principally authored by Speaker Lord Allan Velasco.
The late lawmaker principally authored 102 measures.
During her stint as a congresswoman, the late lawmaker principally authored 102 measures and co-authored other important legislation that address issues on child abuse, exploitation and discrimination, health, education and culture, as well as labor and employment, among others.
Some notable laws that were authored and co-authored by the lady legislator were:
1) Republic Act 11476 or the Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC) and Values Education Act,
2) RA 11466 or the Salary Standardization Law of 2019,
3) RA 11479 or the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020,
4) RA 11494 or the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act, and 5) RA 11525 or the COVID-19 Vaccination Program Act of 2021.
Acop was also recognized as a passionate doctor.
Aside from being known as a dignified legislator, Acop was also recognized as a passionate doctor, who was esteemed by her colleagues for her dedication to work and family, as well as her commitment to her advocacies and the needs of her constituents.
HR 1810 further provides: “The passing of Rep. Resurreccion Acop brings unimaginable grief to those whom she left behind. But we honor her invaluable contributions and accomplishments in the 18th Congress.”
The hybrid session was presided over by Deputy Speaker Juan Pablo Bondoc.
