Davaoeños have given their vote of confidence to Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) senatorial candidate, Dong Mangudadatu, in the recent survey conducted by the University of Mindanao’s Institute of Popular Opinion (IPO).
The IPO survey was conducted on April 8 to 12 in the three districts of Davao City with 1,200 respondents, Mangudadatu shared the 5th to 8th spots with incumbent and veteran senators Cynthia Villar, Sonny Angara, and independent candidate Grace Poe.

The survey showed that 41.6 percent of respondents voted for Mangudadatu. Following him were Senators Villar (40.3 percent), Angara (39.8 percent), and Poe (37.8 percent).
Meanwhile, former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Bato dela Rosa (91.3 percent) and Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Bong Go (91.1percent) got the highest percentage.
The IPO survey was conducted to determine the current views of Davaoeños on the coming midterm elections.
The survey had a margin of 3 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent.
The survey was the first conducted by IPO for the coming May 13 elections.
Mangudadatu thanked the Davaoeños for their support as this showed that his PEACE (Peace, Energy, Agriculture, Culture Unity, and Education) platform is an effective agenda for the people.
The legislator, who spent his student days in Davao City, said the support of Davaoeños is as important as the endorsement given by President Rodrigo Duterte and by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte to his candidacy.
The lawmaker’s PEACE agenda also earned him the support of the President and Mayor Duterte who is also the founding chairperson of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago regional party.
Mangudadatu is the top choice of the President to represent the Moro people, saying he is the one who can help the government in its peace and development efforts, especially Moro areas.

Mayor Duterte also expressed her full trust on Mangudadatu, describing him as the key to Mindanao’s peace and progress.
The Mindanao leader, who once served as the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President of Buluan town in 1996 and mayor of Pandag town before his stint in the House of Representatives, is pushing for peace and progress.
While in Congress as representative of Maguindanao’s second district, Mangudadatu was the voice of Mindanao as he actively promoted the interest of the Indigenous Peoples and Filipino Muslims being the chairperson of the Committee on Muslim Affairs and the Committee of Mindanao Affairs and member of the Committee on Indigenous Cultural Communities and the Indigenous Peoples.
