Ang Nars Party-List has assured health workers that steps are now being taken to resolve the delayed salaries of nurses and the deployment of nurses and other public health workers.
According to the party-list group, they are collaborating with the Department of Health (DOH) and other concerned government agencies and local government units.
“We recognize that our health workers are the backbone of a strong health system,” Ang Nars Party-List said. “They are important in realizing Universal Health Care (UHC).”
“Health workers are the backbone of a strong health system.”
“There are gaps that clearly need to be addressed and we want to start building the health reforms that we need through the UHC law,” the group added.
The DOH, according to Ang Nars Party-List, is already aware of the issues.
There are, however, several external factors contributing to the delays, the party-list said.

It cited the pending release of the 2019 General Appropriations Act (GAA) yet to be approved by Congress.
Upon release of the DOH budget, approximately 26,000 health workers under the Human Resources for Health (HRH) Deployment Program will be hired.
A total of 17,205 positions will be dedicated to nurses.
“They will receive full benefits similar to the benefits of a permanent employee,” explained Ang Nars Party-List, “a policy that the DOH has actively pushed for.”
“The HRH program only works with the strong support of the LGUs,” the party-list group added.
“Health is everybody’s responsibility and collectively, we can build a health system where no Filipino is left behind,” Ang Nars Party-List concluded.
