The 48th Malasakit Center in the country opened at the Compostela Valley Provincial Hospital (CVPH)-Montevista in Bangkerohan Sur, Montevista.
Senator Bong Go led the opening of the facility, which is a one-stop-shop housing representatives from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and the Department of Health (DOH).
“President Duterte urged me to establish a help desk.”
Go, now dubbed by many as the “Father of the Malasakit Center,” recalled how President Rodrigo Duterte urged him to establish a help desk for the Filipinos who are in dire need of medical assistance.
“This is the reason why a Malasakit Center was created. I hope that the Malasakit Act of 2019 will be approved before Christmas this year,” the legislator said.
The 15th center in Mindanao and third in Davao Region, the lawmaker said that he will try to cover all provincial hospitals in the country with Malasakit centers before the term of the President ends.
Some P8 million budget was also turned over to CVPH-Montevista as an initial fund for the Malasakit Center.
“The amount will be given monthly to make sure that a ‘zero hospital bill’ will be provided.”
“That amount will be given monthly to make sure that a ‘zero hospital bill’ will be provided to those in need of medical assistance,” the senator said.
Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy thanked Go for his efforts in providing medical assistance to the Comvaleneos.
“Thank you for this facility. It will surely make the assistance more easy to our constituents,” Uy added.
Meanwhile, Dr. Eunice Manansala, CVPH-Montevista OIC chief of hospital, said the number of clients increased since its establishment in April of this year.
“Now that we really have our office for the Malasakit, we expect that the clients will double its numbers,” Manansala added.
