Residents living close to rivers in the province of Pampanga now have much needed protection during times of heavy rain thanks to four newly-completed slope protection structures by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, citing reports from DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller Tolentino, identified the recipient towns of the slope protection structures as the Municipalities of Porac, Guagua, and Lubao in Pampanga.
Completed along the banks of Pasig-Potrero River in Barangay Manuali, Porac, Pampanga is a 310.31-lineal-meter slope protection built on a steel sheet pile foundation in the amount of P96.2 million funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
“The slope protection is connected to the previously completed 232.54-lineal-meter structure also in Barangay Manuali to prevent flooding and soil erosion in residential areas near the Pasig-Potrero River.”
