The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of three flood control structures that will ensure the protection of residents against flooding in Rizal, Nueva Ecija.
Citing reports from DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller Tolentino, DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan identified the Barangays Calaocan, Poblacion East, Poblacion Norte, and San Gregorio as the recipient of the river control structures, which cost P145.7 million sourced from the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2022.
“Barangays Calaocan, Poblacion East, Poblacion Norte, and San Gregorio are the recipient of the river control structures, which cost P145.7 million.”
A 262-lineal-meter concrete structure in Barangay Caloacan and Barangay Poblacion East was built by the DPWH Nueva Ecija First District Engineering Office (DEO).
Also completed are flood mitigation structures in Barangay Poblacion Norte and Barangay San Gregorio measuring 274 lineal meters and 253 lineal meters, respectively.
Bonoan said that the timely completion of the flood control projects, which coincides with the onset of the rainy season, is seen to reduce possible water overflow that could cause damage to both residential areas and agricultural lands.
