Quezonians, the long wait is finally over.
The battle for the brains and brawns is now set ablazed as UP Oroquieta (UPO) reopens its 24th Intellectuals Quiz (IQ) this 19th of March at Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, Candelaria after almost four years of hiatus since 2019.
This year’s 24th IQ, with the theme “Sagisag ng Sigasig: Championing Quezonian Youth as Catalysts of Social Change”, aims to promote academic excellence, to strengthen camaraderie and sportsmanship and to nurture the sense of nationalism of the youth while highlighting the responsibilities and victories amidst social injustices.
The competition features 9 sub-events open to all high school students in Quezon province. Junior High School students may join in one of the seven (7) sub-events that includes: (1) Quiz Bee, (2) Impromptu Speaking, (3) Poster Making, (4) Slogan Making, (5) Essay Writing, (6) Literary Writing, and (7) Photo Essay. Senior High School students, however, are only allowed to participate in one of the following: (1) Debate and (2) Business Plan Competition.
Aside from the opportunity to compete with other students, participants are also invited to an educational discussion tackling the topic “The role of youth women and LGBT in combating cultural and systematic abuse.”
