Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar announced the completion of two river-control projects in the municipalities of Solana and Amulung, Cagayan Province.
One of the recently-completed flood-control projects is the P72.38 million riverbank protection project along the Cagayan River in Barangay Natappian, Solana which now prevents massive soil erosion and protects the homes and livelihood of residents.

The project which was implemented by the DPWH Cagayan 3rd District Engineering Office (CTDEO) involved the construction of a river wall stretching 250 meters along the Cagayan River.
Another project that was completed by the DPWH-CTDEO is a P66.23 million flood control system with revetments, driven sheet piles, and spur dikes along a 257.2 meter downstream section of the Cagayan River in Barangay Centro, Amulong town.
“Residents living close to the river whose livelihood mainly relies on farming are now protected by the flood-control project,” said Villar.
