Twelve barangays were validated during the second edition of the Angeles City Governement’s inter-barangay contest dubbed as “Gawad Parangal sa mga Pinakamalinis, Luntiang, Ligtas at Kaayaayang Pamayanan (Pogi Ya Ing Barangay Ku).”
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. said this project aims to promote sustainable programs for participatory governance, environmental management, peace and order, and disaster risk reduction management.
Among the semifinalist barangays are Balibago, Cuayan, Cutud, Mining, Pampang, Pandan, San Nicolas, Sapangbato, Sto. Cristo, Sto. Domingo, Sto. Rosario, and Virgen Delos Remedios.
A team from the Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) supervised by Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel with the panel of evaluators composed of Environmentalist and Veteran Broadcaster Cecil Yumul; Edna Marissa Simbre of Department of Environment and Natural Resources—EMB Region III; Lodislao Puno III of the Department of the Interior and Local Government – Angeles City; and Lisa Juco of the Office of the Civil Defense Region III held a table on-site validation last September 19-20, 2023 in the 12 barangays.

According to Irish Bonus-Llego of ACEDIPO, 30 barangays have joined the contest.
The 30 joiners were trimmed down to 20, until the top 12 were concluded as semifinalists.
The criteria of the contest are Urban Farm and Greening Program (35%); Solid Waste Management and General Cleanliness Program (35%); and Disaster Risk Reduction, Peace and Order, Health and Sanitation Program (30%).

The grand winner will receive a dump truck with ₱300,000 cash incentive; second placer will get ₱600,000; 3rd placer will receive ₱300,000; top 6 will receive ₱150,000; top 12 will get ₱130,000; top 20 will receive ₱120,000; and consolation prize for non-winner barangays is ₱100,000.
